The GO!Durban network was built on the rules of Universal Accessibility. This means our transport welcomes and assists passengers with many different needs, including those with physical disabilities, the hearing and sight impaired, the elderly, pregnant women and passengers travelling with children or carrying heavy loads.
GO!Durban uses wider access gates and doors, as well as level boarding to assist you with strollers, prams and wheelchairs. Buses have dedicated areas for wheelchairs that provide ample space to turn, especially when coming in and out of the dedicated area.
Stations are equipped with support rails that provide a bar to lean against, for the elderly and those struggling with mobility.
For passengers with hearing impairments, our stations use bright and bold signage and buses are announced visually throughout the day. Station door opening and closing prompts will be given for passenger safety. The symbols used on buses and at stations are universally understood and in accordance with international protocol to aid understanding, especially if there is a language barrier.
Dedicated ablution facilities are available at the stations for toddlers, pregnant women, the wheel-chair bound and the elderly. To ensure these spaces are available for those with special needs, they will not be open to all passengers.
The eThekwini Municipality has provided concession fares for people with disabilities, pensioners and scholars and are available through the GO!Durban Muvo concession cards. Pensioners and people with disabilities enjoy discounted rates during off-peak times, while scholars receive discounted rates at all times. Children under the age of two accompanied by an adult travel for free.
Around the stations there are sound emitting traffic lights to indicate whether it is safe to cross the road or not.
For a limited period brand ambassadors will be at stations to assist passengers with their journey needs and create a user friendly ambience.
