Head to your nearest Muvo Smart Van with your ID or driver’s license and register for a card. Load the trips you need through our mobile app or the website, swipe, and discover our beautiful City on our many buses.
Users also have multiple ways to pay for their bus tickets, including paying online and by visiting the PayPoint locations.
The GO!Durban network uses a cashless MUVO card system, but that does not mean it is free. Once you purchase your MUVO card, you will need to load credit on your card in order to use the network - just like loading airtime on your cellphone’s SIM card.
...
Please be aware that two passengers cannot share one card at the same time. Each passenger boarding a bus will need their own card.
...
If you need to travel outside the GO!Durban routes, you will need the standard MUVO card which can be purchased from any MUVO van or kiosk.
Scholars also receive a special concession rate per journey, at all times, as long as they are traveling in full school uniform.
Apply OnlineAdults enjoy standard rates for their journeys.
For travel within the GO!Durban network
Pensioners and people with disabilities enjoy discounted rates during off-peak times between 09:00 - 14:30 and 18:30 - 21:00 on any weekday.
Apply OnlineTapping in and out is how you pay for travelling with the GO!Durban card by Muvo. You tap in at the start of your journey and tap out at the end. Simply hold your card against the validator on your way in to tap in. At the end of your journey, do the same as you exit. If you do not tap in and out correctly, your card will be charged the maximum fare of R15.35.
...
When you have reached your final stop and want to leave the station, you will need to tap out at the fare gates. You can check your card balance on the validator machines at the station ticket offices. The colour shown will tell you whether you have enough points or need to load more.
When you arrive at the station, you simply need to tap in with your card. Once your tap is validated the light turns green and the turnstile will unlock, allowing you to proceed into the system. When the bus arrives, the doors will open and you can step directly through the station doors onto the bus. At your destination the same will happen and you’ll need to tap your card once again to exit the station.
If you tap your card and the validator light turns red not letting you through the turnstile, it could be one of two things:
You do not have a minimum balance on your card, or
Your card might be faulty.
Special rates are offered for scholars, pensioners and people with disabilities. Children under two years accompanied by an adult travel without a card and free.
